Electric bikes are becoming increasingly popular, but unfortunately, the number of e-bike thefts is also increasing rapidly. According to SSF (Swedish Theft Prevention Association), 54,848 bicycle thefts were reported in 2024, a large proportion of which were electric bikes. In Stockholm, e-bike thefts in January 2025 increased by a massive 74 percent compared to the same period last year. At the same time, thefts of batteries, wheels, and other e-bike parts are also increasing, causing many cyclists to feel growing anxiety when parking their bikes.
- Seeing your e-bike or important bike parts stolen is frustrating. For many, e-bikes are a convenient and environmentally friendly alternative to cars or public transport. But as thefts increase, more and more people choose to leave their bikes at home or stop cycling altogether. This is a trend we want to change, says Aleksa Stefanovic, Chief Sales Officer at Zipforce.
Zipforce - a flexible and theft-proof solution
At Zipforce, we have a smart and innovative solution to reduce the risk of e-bike theft. Zipforce transforms your regular bike into an e-bike with just one click – and the best part? The motor and battery, which are integrated, are completely portable!
After your ride, you simply remove your Zipforce and carry it with you. This means your bike looks like a regular bike when parked and is therefore less attractive to thieves. For those who want an e-bike but want to avoid the risk of losing an expensive investment, Zipforce is a convenient and secure option.
- We strive to offer a safe, smart, and flexible solution for e-cycling. By making the motor portable, cyclists can easily take it with them, thereby reducing the risk of theft, continues Aleksa Stefanovic.

How to protect your e-bike from theft - 4 important tips
In addition to using Zipforce, there are other measures that can reduce the risk of bicycle theft. Here is a checklist with some effective safety tips.
1. Always use an approved lock
- Invest in at least two SSF-approved locks, preferably U-locks or chain locks together with disc brake locks.
- Lock the frame and rear wheel to a fixed object, e.g., a bicycle rack or lamppost.
2. Park strategically
- Park your bike in well-lit and monitored areas.
- Store your bike indoors or in a locked shed if possible.
3. Make your bike less attractive to thieves
- Mark the bike with its frame number and DNA marking.
- Register the bike with the SSF (Swedish Theft Prevention Association) or another database to increase the likelihood of getting it back if it's stolen.
- Use anti-theft labels or engraving to deter thieves.
4. Use tracking equipment
- Install a GPS tracker to locate the bike if it's stolen, such as Apple AirTag. This can be attached to the frame or seat post.
