FAQ
1. What is Zipforce and how does it work? Zipforce is a Swedish-developed e-bike kit that lets you convert virtually any regular bike into an electric bike. When you pedal, a wireless pedal sensor activates the motor, whose drive wheel rests against the tyre to help propel the bike forward.
2. Is it compatible with my bike? Zipforce can be fitted to most bikes, though some models may require a bit more modification than others. It can be mounted on either the front or rear wheel using a patented quick-release bracket. It works best with smooth tyres suited for road cycling, but can also handle coarser patterned tyres as long as the centre of the tyre is uniform.
3. How far can I ride on a single charge? With full motor assistance, the Slim model offers around 20 km of range and the Distance model around 35 km. If you contribute some pedalling effort yourself, you can reach up to 40 km on the Slim and 70 km on the Distance.
4. What is the top speed, and is it street legal? The motor assists you up to 25 km/h, which is the maximum speed permitted for electric bikes under EU regulations. Above that speed, the motor cuts out automatically — though you can still pedal faster under your own power.
5. Can I remove the motor when I don't need it? Yes — once the bracket is mounted on your bike, the electric motor is easy to detach and reattach. This is handy for charging and also reduces the risk of theft, as you can simply take the motor with you when you're done cycling.
